Dorsey Discount Services was created by Michael Stern, as a solution for people without a dental plan. Dorsey became the first dental discount plan in Texas in 1985. By 1988, it had become so popular with entrepreneurs, small businesses, city governments and other municipal agencies that he was adding 150 families on the plan per week. The concept was obviously a hit. Since then, Dorsey has serviced close to a quarter of a million people saving them millions of dollars in dental fees.

A recognized authority on dental discount plans; Mr. Stern served on the Advisory Committee for the Texas Commissioner of Insurance to investigate problems and questionable practices in the Dental HMO industry in 1994. Expanding into all of Texas and Louisiana, Dorsey now serves Austin, Temple, Waco, Dallas-Fort Worth, El Paso, the Greater Houston Area including Beaumont, the Rio Grade Valley, San Antonio and the Hill Country. In Louisiana Dorsey services Baton Rouge, the New Orleans area, and Lake Charles. Dorsey has also expanded its benefits throughout the years adding eyewear in 1985, medical testing in 1987, prescription drug plans in 1988, and lasik surgery in 2000. Then in 2001 Dorsey Discount Services began to market our discount medical benefits plan. Now, Here we are in 2004 and Dorsey Discount Service now offers some of its’ plans on a national basis.
